By the end of Year 3, children need to be able to recall 2,3,4,5,6,8,10 times tables and division facts.
By the end of Year 4, children will need to recall all times tables and division facts. It would be helpful if you would practise them with your child at home.
Please could you ensure that your child completes their homework over the weekend. Completed work is due in on Monday morning and those who have forgotten their book or not completed their homework will be expected to do it in their play or dinnertime. They need to use black pen or a pencil.
If your child needs extra support, they can attend homework club every week.
This year we will be focusing heavily on reading. It is an important life skill and our aim is that all our children develop a love of reading; for interest, education and pleasure.
As a reading school, we encourage children to use our library to borrow books. It is open every lunchtime and after school on Thursdays. They can also borrow a book from our class library. As with any school property, books need to be returned in the condition they were in when taken home. Damage to books must be paid for.
Please can you encourage your child to write a comment in their reading records.
We will be checking records regularly.
Uniform
Can we please remind parents that jewellery should not be worn in school apart from one pair of small stud earrings and a watch.

Behaviour
We expect a high standard of behaviour at all times. The school expectations, consquences and rewards will be discussed with all children at the beginning of each term. Not following the expectations affects the education of all children in the class and will be taken seriously.
We use several strategies to encourage children to manage their own behaviour and to become positive role models.
Throughout our time at Broadfield we focus on British Values and how these relate to our school values. Our school values are:
Belief
Respect
Our Community
Aspirations
Diversity
Friendship
Inclusion
Equality
Learning
Determination
E-Safety
In School, we have been talking to the children about keeping safe online. Do you know what your child is doing on the internet?
Were you aware that children cannot join Facebook until they are thirteen?
Please can you find the time to talk with your child about what they are doing online and the potential dangers of inappropriate use.
If you require any support with this or suggestions for alternative technology free activities, please ask.date

Identity
During the first two weeks we looked at our identities. The children used a profile of their heads to create a piece of work all about them, showing what makes them who they are. This included details about their religion, heritage, likes and dislikes.
